Tubod, Lanao del Norte – The Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) has successfully launched the Strengthening the Philippine Workforce through Adaptive and Responsive Digital Knowledge (SPARK) Technical Training Program for women. This initiative aims to equip participants with essential graphic design skills over a 13-day intensive course, providing them with valuable career opportunities in the digital sector.
The program commenced on May 10, 2024, with an official launch event held at the MDRRMO PagLikAnLuBan Hall. The event saw the enthusiastic participation of 16 trainee-scholars, both onsite and online, ready to delve into the world of graphic design. The key topics covered during the launch included Spark Orientation, Scholarship Responsibilities, and Training Expectations, presented by DICT’s Project Development Officers and the Trainer.
Notable insights were shared by Glenn Quijoy from the Mayor’s Office, representing Mayor Jimmy Cabahug, who emphasized the importance of empowering the community with digital literacy. DICT Provincial Officer Engr. Owieda Smith also highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering digital inclusivity at the grassroots level.
The training program, which ran from May 13, 2024, to May 24, 2024, included a blend of hands-on and internet-based training. Participants engaged in tasks designed to enhance their design skills, meet client needs, and focus on user experience. Speaker Mr. Zaggueth Cabonce shared his expertise on graphic design and the use of Canva, the platform tool for the training. Facilitators Mr. Mark Cabactulan and Mr. Laurence Lladera Ligan conducted the screening and facilitated the training program.
Following the 5-day intensive training, participants undertook an Online Campaign, Assessment, and Graduation ceremony, symbolizing their progress towards digital proficiency and economic empowerment. The graduation ceremony was held on June 4, 2024, at DICT Tubod, Lanao del Norte, marking the successful completion of the SPARK Technical Training Program.
The SPARK program aims to cultivate a skilled workforce in the ICT sector, enhancing individuals’ capacity to pursue ICT-related professions and contributing to the overall development of the community.
