The College of Criminology at St. Peterโs College successfully concluded a 2-day Pre-Internship Training on October 28-29, 2024, designed to prepare fourth-year students for their upcoming internships next semester. Held in collaboration with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the training offered students vital hands-on experience in emergency response and rescue techniques under the guidance of skilled BFP officers, led by City Fire Marshal F/Supt. Jack M. Bigwil.
Day 1 focused on Basic Skills Responders Training, where students gained practical knowledge in emergency response, learning foundational skills crucial for effective intervention in real-world situations.
On Day 2, students received Basic Rope Rescue Training, which included a special highlightโan opportunity to experience basic rappelling. Guided by BFP officers, students were trained in essential rope rescue skills and were able to engage in controlled rappelling exercises. This experience allowed them to apply their training in a safe, practical setting, bolstering their confidence and skills in handling emergency rescues involving heights.
The training was expertly conducted by BFP officers SFO1 Oliver Kris Caballero, FO3 Ariel John Galaroza II, FO2 Laurence Duhaylungsod, FO2 Bong Samuel Legaspi Jr., FO1 Mark Vincent Limare, FO1 Jhervester Tare, and FO1 Aiza Amerol, who provided comprehensive, hands-on instruction.
This experiential training not only enhanced students’ preparedness for their internships but also underscored St. Peterโs Collegeโs commitment to offering rigorous, real-world training for its criminology students, empowering them with the skills needed to succeed in their future careers.
